Read MoreMr. Simonds and I shared Christmas card updates every year and tried to connect through the years when he was in LaFayette. As a former student of his, I learned US History as well as leadership skills through Debate Club and Model UN sessions. He had a smile, a way of "egging you on" that will be missed by those who knew him.

I learned a LOT from Mr. Simonds, especially about the three branches of gov't and how it all works. He was a wise man, and what he taught, stuck!
