Robert Simons Obituary
Robert W. "Bob" Simons, 89, of O'Fallon, Ill., born June 21, 1926, in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Simons was veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II. Robert owned and operated Simons Service in Fairview Heights, Ill., and served the city of Fairview Heights on the police and fire board of commissioners. He was a member of the Fairview Heights VFW Post 8677, East Lodge 504 AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Ainad Shrine, Royal Order of Jesters, Fairview Heights Optimist Club, Fairview Heights Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Board of Police and Fire Commissioners, and Illinois Sheriffs Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Cecilia, nee Francois, Simons; a son, Mark Simons; a brother, Wallace Simons; a sister, Rose Cecil Simons; and a granddaughter, Linnie Simons.
Surviving is his wife, Joyce E. Simons, nee Ebersohl; two sons, Michael (Gayle) Simons of O 'Fallon, Ill., and Robert (Lisa) Simons of O'Fallon, Ill.; a brother, Lyle E. Simons of Crossville, Tenn.; a sister, Mildred Wilson of O'Fallon, Ill.; six grandchildren, Kyle Simons, Alex Simons, Ryan Simons, Spencer (Hollie) Simons, Scott (Eric) Simons, and Joel Simons; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Gage, Harper, and Rowyn Simons; and other relatives and many dear friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Ill. A Masonic service will be at 1 p.m.
Funeral: Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Ill. Inurnment will be private in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.

I cannot imagine a better epitaph than the one I can honestly leave for Bob - a good man. I grew up in Fairview Heights and could always count on him for anything. He was the kind of man I aspired to be.

I was just a kid, but Bob always treated me with a great deal of respect and always went out of his way to help me with my car. A great man in my eyes.

Bob was always a wonderful neighbor and my mom's cousin. Whenever any of us needed his help with any of our vehicles, he always had the answer. He was a fine man. God bless him and may he rest in peace.

The family will be in our thoughts and prayers. Bob was a good man and I remember him always having a smile on his face. He may not be with you any longer but he will always be with you in your heart.
