You will be missed.

I am going to miss my cousin-Robert calling me now and then, sending me emails, advising me on genealogy, disagreeing on politics in a friendly way.

I miss him already, but I am glad he got in touch and at least toward the end of his life we were not only cousins but friends.

I cherished the photos, especially the one of my mother at 3-years-old. He told me how "cute" and how much fun she was. He told me how it broke his heart when she married my dad.

I've already been missing the warm emails from Cousin Robert. It was Robert who knew about the Hornsby side of our mutual ancestry. He filled in the blanks of my mother's stories about Big Joe and Little Joe Harrell and worked with me on figuring out why James D. Brown was listed twice in the 1860 census.
Beyond genealogy, Robert did thoughtful things like email me a picture of the Naval hospital where my grandson was born while my son was serving in Iraq.

We are saddened to hear of Roberts death. Our prayers are with you all.

Robert was my first supervisor in the navy that went out of the way to try and lead this inexperienced "kid" in the right direction. My time in the navy on the USS Gyatt was made a great deal more enjoyable because of him. God's blessings on you Bob.

We are the three living children of Naomi Harrell Carroll and William Jesse Carroll. Robert's, mother Ruth Simpson was the sister to Naomi. His emails will be greatly missed. He helped us get to know our family history better. We shared a lot of memories of growing up with family. Remembering names, places and fun times was a trip back to when we were younger.
