Not sure what to say?

I wonder if he may have been a childhood friend. His birthdate would make sense, and if he went to elementary school in San Diego he´s probably the same person. The Robert I knew was a super intelligent and kind (and quite small!) kid. We would ride our bikes to the library, check out the maximum number of books, then trade them a week later. I believe we read most of them. Just reminiscing... I always wondered what became of my buddy.

I think of Rob so often and of his ability to make students feel welcomed, valued, and special. Such a lovely gift.

He is also one of the reasons I enjoyed being in UCSF's doctoral program so much. Not only was he brilliant in his field - he also brought enthusiasm and joy into the classroom with him. I miss his sheer goodness.

Rob was one of my professors at UCSF. I took a memorable class on quasi-experimental research from him and Bill H. - one of my two favorite UCSF doctoral classes.
Rob served on both my quals committee and my disseration committee. He was ALWAYS cordial, positive, funny, prompt, assistive, and accurate. He knew EVERYTHING about stats. I am so saddened by his loss. We who learned from him were incredibly fortunate.

Linda, I was so sorry to hear of your husband's passing, my condolences to you and your family.

I only knew Rob for a short time as my professor at UCSF, but in that time he showed what a courageous and caring individual he was. His sense of humor and love of teaching brightened the days for all of his students. He made learning fun and somehow managed to teach us about life and what really matters in the process. My prayers go out to you and to your family.

Please accept my deepest sympathies.

Linda,my deepest condolences go out to you, your daughter and family.Sorry that I will not be able to attend due to work.Prayers and blessings to you all.Deeply sorry for your loss.

Dearest Rob,

Thank you for all wonderful times and unforgettable experiences. Your laughter and smile will be greatly missed. Thank you again for being a great mentor/friend/IT-family and for always being there when I needed you the most! I hope there is a Disneyland in Heaven so that you'll be at the happiest place above us!
