Bob and I first met in kindergarten in Saint Joseph of the Palisades grammar school in West New York. After his family moved to Ridgefield the following year, I did not come into contact with him again until our days at the Divinity school at Seton Hall in 1965. During our years in the seminary, we spent some time at a Spanish zarzuela musical presentation in New York City. I will never forget what my mom, husband, and I learned from Fr. Bob in our Christian Foundations for Ministry classes at St. Mary of the Assumption in Elizabeth. He was a wonderful teacher and friend - we were blessed to know him. Rest In Peace.

Fond memories with St. Luke´s youth group and the Search community. Fr. Slipe was one of the most influential people in my life. Maybe one day we will meet on the Road to Emmaus with Jesus. May you Rest In Peace.

I was a St Peter´s River Edge parishioner. I loved & appreciated Monsignor very, very much. Here is one simple memory I will share. I had served at a funeral mass one day. The bereaved was a middle aged man in a wheel chair who had lost his father; he was grieving deeply and weeping openly. After the mass was over he looked at Monsignor who was standing in front of him. The man held up his arms silently as if asking to be embraced.
