Not sure what to say?

I only met Mr. Smith four times. Each time, I left inspired to do more and to be more - and I felt privileged by the association. My sincere sympathies to his family, and to all of those who knew him better than I.

My prayers and sympathy is with the Smith and Kogod families during your time of sorrow. The Charles E. Smith Companies was a wonderful place to work because it was a cut about other companies that set a standard of excellence like Mr. Charles E and Mr. Robert H. had in their personal and professional lives. Mr. Robert was an outstanding person and employer as well as in the Washington Metropolitan area and at large. His presence will truly be missed. To Mr. Smith's widow and entire family...

Dear Clarice,

My very heartfelt thoughts are with you and your family.
I will never forget Bob's great generosity when at the National Gallery of Art, first as a visiting Senior Curator of Sculpture in 2001/2002 and then one year later as First Safra Professor at CASVA. It has been always a great pleasure to talk about bronzes. His philanthropic attitude was exemplary.
Sincerely,
Manfred Leithe-Jasper

To the Smith and Kogod Family,

A true luminary has left us but his amazing legacy in the arts, education, healthcare and other civic interests will continue to have an amazing impact on millions of individuals and their families. My heart goes out to you all during this difficult time. Hopefully the pain is somewhat easier knowing that because of his foresight, work ethic, and wonderful generosity he left behind an even better world. His passion for life and making good will be...

We have lost an eloquent, patriotic American, whose reverence for the founding fathers and our Constitution inspired us all. Bob was a remarkable friend, with a generous and kind heart, brilliant mind and engaging humor. We were blessed to know him and send our thoughts and prayers to his family at this sad time.

Dear David,
We are so saddened by your loss. The wonderful memories shared can be a true blessing at this time. We so wanted to be with you; know that our hearts are on the east coast. Merle Tabor Stern, Murray Bognovitz Corona del Mar, Ca.

Your family and our community have lost a steadfast friend, a great man. We of the Jewish Council for the Aging mourn with you.

Dear Clarice,

Please accept my sincere condolances for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family. It was a shock to hear of Bob's passing. He will be missed in the sculpture world - a collector of huge determination and passion who will be one of the great names of his generation. He will also be remembered for his generosity towards the study and education of the history of sculpture. Something we are all grateful for.

I was happy to have seen him just before...

Dear Clarice,
My thoughts are with you and your family at this time. Bob was a great collector and patron of the arts as well as someone with an unwavering belief in the promise and potential of this country. His work for the National Gallery, Montpelier, and Monticello, among others, will remain a shining legacy.
Sincerely,
Bruce Boucher
