Robert A. Smith, 90, of Cranston passed away at home peacefully on October 24, 2017 after a life well-lived. Bob was born in Cranston on December 5, 1926. He was married for over 50 years to the late Marjorie (Palumbo) Smith. He was the son of the late Marian Quimby Smith and Clifford Smith. He was a U.S. Navy WW II Veteran and retired truck driver and Teamster. He leaves his children Robert C. Smith, his wife Ann, Linda Nelson and husband Greg, and Ellen Grizzetti and husband Rob. He was the proud grandfather of Allison Marovelli and husband Len, Catherine Smith, Joe Grizzetti, Dan Smith, and Tom Grizzetti. Bob was lovingly known by many nicknames and for a great set of one-liners. He rode his bicycle, walked, and drove his car almost until the very end. He had an easy smile, a gentle manner, and was humble and unassuming. 'Timmy' could fix anything and was always there to help his family and friends, who were blessed to have him for so many years. His calling hours are Saturday from 8-10 a.m. at “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home 600 Pontiac Avenue Cranston followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. in St. David on the Hill Church 200 Meshanticut Valley Parkway, Cranston. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Memorial contributions made to the Hope Alzheimer’s Center 25 Brayton Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920 will be greatly appreciated. Dear Linda, Bobby, & Ellen
We are so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. We will always remember the time Uncle Bob pulled up in his 18 wheeler at our new home in North Providence. He was in the neighborhood and just wanted to take a look and see if he could help with anything.. a true gentleman.
God Bless,
Joe and Elisa
