Robert W. Ates, 73, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2021, at Elkhart General Hospital. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with visitation one-half hour prior. Billings Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

After receiving the shocking news of his passing,...I offer my heart felt sympathy and condolences to his family and friends.
I got acquainted with Bob 30 years ago when he worked for Centurion and we had been keeping in contact with each other since then.
Bob was a devout Catholic and was very instrumental in mentoring me thru the RCIA process,... and my eventual confirmation and baptism into the Catholic Church. I will always be most grateful and never forget him.

So sorry to hear the passing of your dad Joey. I have such wonderful memories of him. Your mom and dad and you would come to Erika´s birthday party to celebrate with us when you were very little. Your birthday was within a few days of hers. It was always so much fun. The family is here for you if you need anything.
