Dr. Bob was my faculty advisor for only 1 1/2 years at Alma College, but he changed my life in remarkable ways from 1970 on. It has been a blessing to stay in touch for over half a century and to pray for each other. God placed him on my mind on January 15th and I prayed and wrote to him. Two days later his daughter, Barb, saw my email to Bob and wrote back telling me her dad was "in the process of dying." I kept praying and soon learned that Bob had passed into Glory that day. Bob Smith was a great role model of a Christian in the higher educational world. He shepherded all of us InterVarsity student leaders when I was there in the early 1970's. He led a Bible study in his office at 6:00 AM Friday morning for students. He shared his family with us at that time and I was friends with him and his family until his recent passing into Glory.
