Bob was my grandfather I didn't get to talk to like I wanted to I knew he was a very intelligent man .That made me want to speak with him about my world views and his but I was young and I would always try to be respectful to him and never got the chance because I was nervous because he was strict. Granddad and grandmother always sent Christmas presents I always looked forward to that.Helen and I was talking one day out front of their home in Huntsville she told me that I was always her...

I just learned today of Bob's passing and I was so very, very saddened by the news. Bob was truly one of the nicest people on earth. His involvement with the early days of the space program gave me added interest and enthusiasm as a kid growing up in the '60s and I always looked forward to the Smith family coming to our house in Florida on their way to the Cape for the latest space shot. My deepest sympathy to Robbie, Lee, Lucia and Holly. Your father was a wonderful man.

I am Ted Pigott's daughter, and I have wonderful memories of visiting Uncle Bob and Aunt Helen Rose at my grandparents' house. My prayers are with your family.

Bob Smith was a very special uncle. Like my brother Ted noted, Bob also took the photos at my wedding to my husband John over 22 years ago. I always thought the world of both Uncle Bob and his wife Helen Rose. I feel for Rob, Lee, Lucia, and Holly as I too have lost my father some 13 years ago. I also feel for Aunt Helen Rose because she has lost her lifetime companion. Our prayers will be with all of the family in the days and weeks ahead.
Love and Prayers from Terri and John...

I am so profoundly sad to learn of my Uncle Bob's passing yesterday. My wife, Rhonda, and I were reminiscing earlier this week about our wedding day in 1974. Our favorite memory of that day remains the time we spent with Uncle Bob and Aunt Helen Rose taking our wedding pictures. They made it the most enjoyable time with lots of laughter! He also sustained my interest in the space program during that exciting time in America's history. I admired him in so many ways and I am fortunate to have...
