Robert E. Soluri, 86, the son of Joseph C. Soluri and Violet (Gamble) Soluri passed away on November 5, 2018 at his home that he shared with his longtime companion Shirley Miller of 39 years following a brief illness. Robert was born on Aug. 8, 1932, in Watertown, NY


Robert bravely served in his country in combat until the end of the Korean War.  Upon leaving the military Robert became a machinist at the New York Air Brake for 36 years along with opening Soluri’s Pizza in 1970, which he ran until 1979 when his son Robert took over upon his retirement. Robert enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, his beloved dog Pugsley, listening to country music, attending BINGO, watching his favorite teams the NY Yankees, Giants and Syracuse.


Mr. Soluri is survived by his sons Robert E. Soluri Jr. his companion Andrea Bazinet, Patrick Soluri, daughters, Toni M. Soluri and companion Michael R. Gillian, Tina S. Miller and husband Ronald D. Miller, Tammy A. Soluri and her fiancé Patrick Tarver. Robert is also survived by his longtime companion Shirley Miller’s three children, Tina, Ronald, and Jack. Robert also had 18 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren that he loved dearly.  Robert is also survived by his 3 brothers, Joseph (Rose), Ralph (Joyce), Paul and his sister DeeDee (Kenny) Mallette.


Robert was predeceased by his mother and father, mother of his children, Mildred J. Surace, 2 sister’s Vivian Bidwell, Sally Countryman, brother, Richard (Dick) Soluri and his daughter-in-law Anna Knapp Soluri.


Calling hours will be held Saturday November 10, 2018 from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with a funeral service at 2:00pm. A celebration of life will be held directly after funeral service.
