Not sure what to say?

Bob was also a devoted Knick fan, and accompanied me to several games at the Garden. Please rest in peace, Bob.

I'm reading the wonderful telling of Roberts Spiegel's life well lived again for the first time since 2011. His obituary legacy just popped up into my screen this day after Thanksgiving morning, like an old friend waving a cab for me! I'm 70 now, and a lot has happened since I first read of Robert leaving us. Eleven years of Joy, medical issues, loss...but most of all an acquired viewpoint that every day is a gift. Whether you find Joy in being happy, grumpy, cantankerous, mischievous or...

Jeff, Lisa, and Mrs. Spiegel,

Just heard about your dad via Anne. I am so sorry. The obit is beautiful. Hope you are doing well - wishing you peace.

Many good wishes and love,
Joy

I came across this and hope my obit is as well written as his from one Robert Spiegel to another.

As many of the other writers noted, I only learned of Professor Spiegel, his noteworthy life and his son Jeff's very well written obituary from media accounts. That is my misfortune. The Professor undoubtedly made a great contribution in enriching the lives of countless students and others who knew him. Who could ask for a better way to be remembered.

My best wishes for a fitting celebration of his life this spring with a plentiful supply of single malt whisky!!

Anyone, I would think, would read this warm and loving obituary then reflect on how much their own lives would have been enriched by knowing this man. I did not know him but am one of those who would have been happy to have had the privilege of meeting him. You all have, I'm sure, a treasure trove of memories to keep him in your hearts and minds.
