Not sure what to say?

Dear Elaine and family,

Unfortunately, I was on vacation when you left word for me and I heard the sad news when I returned to work the following week. I have so many wonderful memories of the years we worked together at JAMS and I missed him very much when he decided to retire (again) and wished that we could have worked together longer. Even though he had left the firm, we would still e-mail or talk on the phone. The stories he'd tell about your trips to Maine for family...

My condolences to Chief Steadman's family. I appeared before him often in the mid 80s. He was an excellent judge with a fine temperament. It was a pleasure to try a case in front of him. God Bless.

Dear Elaine and Family,

It is impossible for me to convey to you the deep and heartfelt sympathy I feel for your loss. As you know, the Chief was my hero. I have not known a more outstanding and admirable man. He was my "boss" and my dear "WASP" friend. He was loved by all with whom he came in contact. The Chief always "gave" - never "took." He will be remembered not only as a brilliant jurist but also for his kindness to others, his intelligence, his compassion and...

Dear Elaine and Family,

It is impossible to convey to you how deep and heartfelt my sympathy is for your loss. As you know, the Chief was my hero. I have not known a more outstanding and admirable man. I was selected to sit on a jury panel in the 1980s and Judge Steadman gave the most indelible speech about our legal system and the role of the jury members. I will never forget his professional, yet personable disposition, and his fair treatment and respect for all involved in the case. He showed us that the legal system was an esteemed institution we should be thankful for.

Regards,

An excellent instructor and jurist; I had the pleasure of being a student of his Honor in both circumstances.

He was a man of integrity and fairness and I know that you, his family, are as well you should, be proud of his person.

--Lawrence Fierman, Esq. (ret.)

To the Steadman Family:

Please accept our deepest sympathies. The Chief made a difference in the many lives he touched, court employees, attorneys and the public.

You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

My thoughts and prayers go out the Elaine and family of Bob. I remember cruising with "Stormy Angel", "JODI", "Jolly Jaq"" and of course the "Anstrice" those were the best of times. My parents treasured their friendship and thoroughly enjoyed the annual "New Year Eve" parties. He was an accomplished, kind, humble and thoughtful man not to forget his fairness. Always with a smile. Love to all of you.
