Not sure what to say?

I have known Gus all my life.....I was just looking at an old Chelsea Bulldog yearbook(1948) last week and there we were standing outside in front of the school without our coats in the freezing cold to get our picture taken as kindergarteners!
I haven't seen him much over the years but I still remember him with great fondness. He was a very kind and good hearted person and he will be missed.

We shared a common business client. I always looked forward to our annual meeting and learning about the things that Gus was up to. He was a very concientious CPA and a tireless worker. We were both in the same college class and he just always seemed to be there to talk about the U of M or more importantly "life in Chelsea". I talked with him a few weeks ago by phone and had no idea he was ill. He will be deeply missed..

Another part of my youth is gone, growing up together with Gus and our families on Congdon St. provides too many memories to recount. His response to the cancer which took his leg in his 20s has been an example of courage to me for my whole life. Farewell old friend.

mr steger was a great guy. i always enjoyed going to have gus do my taxes. he always had such a interesting insight about life. i will miss you.

Goodbye my friend. I will miss you.

Dear Ones, My heart is filled with sadness as I read of Gus's death. He was a very kind person to me at dear old St. Marys School. I always remember him fondly.

I remember Gus when I went to St. Mary's School. He would push my friends and me on the swings. Again I remember him when we both were working at Staffan's funeral home, Gus manned the ambulance service, and I baby sat while the young George Staffan and his wife were away. Gus was always so nice. I will keep him and his family in my prayers.

No one likes going to the 'tax man' unless that man is Gus. Great discussions about U of M days, the JFK connection and politics.
When I last saw him it was after the general election and the opening from him was, " You Democrats...."
I had my appointment already scheduled for the 2004 taxes and I was ready. I had many political "show and tell" items ready to take in( oh, yes, and the tax material)to prove the points I planned to make.
Gus was honest, thorough, hard...

Dear Mrs. Steger and Susan - My sincere sympathy in the loss of Gus. What a nice guy he was and will be sorely missed. Carl always thought so much of him.
Sincerely, Judy (Woolley) Kettunen
