Age 97, died peacefully Monday, December 19, 2016 at San Camillo in Wauwatosa, WI. Born September 8, 1919 in Milwaukee, WI to Anthony and Hattie Stemper. Graduated from Marquette University High School, Milwaukee and Marquette University. Married Catherine A. Cox on December 21, 1942. Served in the United States Army during World War II.


Robert is survived by his four children, Thomas (Karen) Stemper of Egg Harbor, WI, William (Nancy) Stemper of Philadelphia, PA, John (Cindy) Stemper of Minneapolis, MN and Susan (Douglas) Reed of Barrington, IL. Further survived by his 13 grandchildren, Timothy (Mattie), Carolyn Timmis (Brian), Maureen Carr (Todd), William Robert (Alicia), Mollie Spalding (Ryan), Lauren, Meghan, Matthew, Michael, Kristina, Patrick, Daniel, Kevin and 7 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Catherine, and parents and brothers, Jerry and Clem Stemper of Milwaukee. Visitation Friday, December 23 at San Camillo Chapel (10200 W. Bluemound Rd.) from 10 AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial to follow at St. Mary's Visitation Cemetery, Elm Grove.


In lieu of flowers, memorials to the St. Camillus Foundation or the Jesuit Partnership appreciated.
