Bob was a truly an amazing individual. He had a huge heart for everyone he knew and humanity as well. His most special love was Jane. Bob was the google before it was created. His knowledge of small and large concepts was legendary. One of the first times we met Bob was when he drove Jane to our 20th high school reunion in 1983. I met Bob in the spring of 1954. I was a lowly, undistinguished high jumper from the country Fairfax High School. Bob went the big city school of Washington and Lee High. He was one of a trio of high jumpers who dominated the state. He seemed a pretty big campus figure, but friendly to competiors. The next year (our senior year) I did pretty well, setting a county high jump record, but I never beat Bob or his classmates. I didn't even bother going to the state meet because I didn't...
