Not sure what to say?

Sorry for the delay in this note; however, I just found out. My sincere sympathy for your loss. I have many happy memories of spending time at the Strieter household. Always felt I was part of the family when I was younger. Mr. Strieter was always kind, always smiling and always very caring. I know he will be missed. My thoughts and prayer are with you all.

To my friends and fellow family members;
I know I have already made an entry, but I feel the need to add a little something more.
The loss of my grandpa is pretty unbearable. I have a hard time excepting he is gone. But today, I learned something. This is what he wanted. This is exactly what he asked for. Our tears are tears of respect, not sadness. Yes, we are all filled with sorrow, but then again, once we think about it, he still lives on in our hearts. He is still here, thinking...

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I have so many good memories of the Strieter Family from my childhood. My best to all of you.

Do I qualify as a close friend? I knew Bob as a trusted Boy Scout leader...as the dedicated father of my classmate (Jack)...as a frequent customer of our store (Leslie O/S)... an honest business owner (Ampere Electric)...and a loyal neighbor. Yes, he was a close friend. And I'm just one of many who felt that way. Our condolences.

Grandpa touched the lives of all those who were lucky enough to have known him. Grandpa was such a generous and caring person. He would have given anything to see other people happy. He was so strong even in the toughest of times. He never complained about his pain or hardships. We all should be inspired by his strong will and kind-hearted nature. I love you, Grandpa Bob! You will be remembered forever and always.

If we can be as special as you
Loving, treasured, sweet and true.
Then up in Heaven you can know
that work as a grandfather will blossom and grow.
With angels you will wear a smile,
looking down every once in a while.
Consoling us maybe, drying any tears
as an angel sweetly calming fears.
Perhaps within a memory or a sigh,
Or a simple tear that we might cry.
Live on within generations forever,
Remembered always forgotten never.
I love you Grandpa!

Robert Roy Strieter was my father-in-law for over 30 years. During that time, I never heard him utter one cross word or criticism. He exemplified goodness, honesty and integrity throughout his entire life. And if a man is truly measured in the end not by how good of a person he has been, but rather by how much better he has made those who have come into contact with him, then his legacy will live on forever and ever. I love you and I miss you greatly Dad!
