Bob was one of the first "old salts" I worked with when I started in the Soils Bureau in 1981. An imposing, big bear of a man, I quickly learned he had a warm and gentle personality and a big heart. When I think of him I can still hear his low rumbling laugh. I was lucky to have known him. You have my sympathies in this sad time.

Stroh's NYSDOT career was with the Soil Mechanics/Geotechnical Engineering Bureau. Although only a handful of people he worked with remain, stories and memories have been passed down and he remains a legend. Our condolences to Bob' family.

Gail, Laurie & Ray, I was so sad to hear about the passing of Bob. He was one of my closest friends both in and out of work. For many years we played pinochle at lunch, poker on Friday nights and golf on weekends. He was a good natured man with a dynamic personality, impeccable integrity and a great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed.
