Not sure what to say?

He was my favorite Met and was gracious to give me an autograph. I was there the day he hit the PH Grandslam which was a great memory. When I got older I had a custom made Hawk Taylor NY Mets jersey which he signed for me.

A fan-friendly player. I had the privilege as a boy of corresponding with him. I had the opportunity to see him hit the PH grandslam against the Pirates for the Mets. Being a lifelong Mets fan he was among my all time favorite Mets. Truly a nice person.

Sam: Dont know if u remember me from ur SWB Red Barons days. I also was great fan of Hawk, having seen him many times at Pologrounds/Shea. He cancelled his subscription to Baseball America as a protest when the Phillies dropped you!!! He told me that, and you told me many great stories about him and being at Shea for fomily days! What r u up to now? Bob

To Bruce and Family:

My deepest condolences go out to you, and your family. Sorry about Hawk, as I just received my letter back today. He was an outstanding athlete, and he played the game fair and well. He will not be forgotten, as a die-hard baseball fan.

A hero of mine....saw him in St Louis....lived in same hometown....

A boyhood favorite of mine and the perfect gentlemen. He signed an autograph for me as a kid and wrote me a nice note which I never forgot. If only today's players were like him. Mike Mayko
