Not sure what to say?

I pray his family is taking time to enjoy the moment Robert would want them to do just that.REST INPEACE

I can´t tell you how much Bob Thayer´s beautiful photography in the Providence Journal inspired me growing up in Rhode Island. His lifestyle and editorial images of the state and its landscapes and people were often abstract and artful. They went far and above the status quo of photojournalism. As a child and budding artist, I always looked forward to seeing his images printed almost daily in The Journal. At one point I ordered a black and white 8 x 10 print of his photograph of an anti-war...

I was a Scantic River rat w. Bob on that that firdt Earth Day so long ago in 1970 We were involved in LIFE (Lemmings Interested in a Favorable Environment) that ignited our lifelong passion for the environment. He was agood soul and will be sorely missed.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Rob Mother Lois, Sue his sister and the rest of Rob family. When the Lord calls our loved ones home, he leaves a gift of memories in exchange. Hold on to your memories of Rob and let them guide you during this time of sadness.
Memories of love and friendship are treasures to carry with you always.
My deepest sympathy. Peggy Mokus Enfield, CT.

I'd like to second Frank McEvoy's comments; I was also a frat brother of Bob's at Bowdoin. Some of the best times I ever had there were in Bob's company. What a good guy he was! Sadly, gone too soon...

Our deepest sympathy to all of the Thayer family on the loss of Robert. Sincerely, Tom and Sally Topitzer and Mark

Growing up with the Thayer Family in Hazardvile will always remain a cherished childhood memory. Rob took my wedding photos in 1977 as a gift from the family - now a truly prized possession from an award winning photographer. How very lucky I was! My sincere sympathy to his dear mother Lois and siblings Skip and Sue. Marsha (Bridge) McCormick

To Bob's family, everyone at The Providence Journal recognized what an artist and great photojournalist Bob was and working with him wads always a pleasure. He made so many beautiful photographs - I wish more of us could see beauty and possibility in the world like he did and I'll always be grateful I got to work with someone so talented and so dedicated. Deepest sympathy to Bob's mother, siblings, extended family and friends. RIP Bob.

Bob was a Bowdoin fraternity brother. We were close in school after we both graduated. He visited me during officer training; I visited him during his Columbia days. A bright, talented, good man (seemingly in short supply these days).
