He was a true Ann Arbor original, institution, & legend. He will never be replaced.

The Owens family send its condolences to the Thompson family. Our parents were friends and our dad's met monthly for their investment dinner meetings. DeLong's was my favorite for ribs and the fries with the sauce. He was a gentle giant and is truly missed by everyone who knew him.

Robert Thompson was always a classy gentleman The one thing I remember about him during his earlier years was his impeccable taste in clothes and shoes and his soft spoken voice. He loved to talk about business and would offer advice to those that ask. He enjoyed having family and friends stop by and would insist they eat before they left or at least take a plate with them. There are many things I could say about him but they have already been said.

This is such sad news. What a wonderful man. I went to DeLong's about twice a week in the 90's while attending high school across the street. Prayers and love to whomever he touched.
