Boule Funeral Home - Fall River Obituary

Robert M. Tolan “Bob”, 58, born December 19, 1965 to Barbara (Ferreira) Tolan of Tiverton, RI and the late John “JT” Tolan, passed away peacefully after a long, hard and courageous battle with cancer on August 6, 2024. His beloved wife Sara (Manchester) Tolan was by his side, just as she had been throughout their 38 years of marriage, as well as his family.

Along with his wife and mother, Bob is survived by his loving children and grandchildren, whom he adored; Jessica Tolan and her spouse Tara Sullivan and their children Kassidi Tolan and Toby Sullivan, Rachel Tolan and her son Kameron Tolan, Kyle Tolan and his spouse Kayla Piccolo and their daughter Karsyn Tolan and soon to be second daughter due in January all of Tiverton, RI; his siblings William Tolan and his wife Patricia of Tiverton, RI, and Mary Ann Baptista and her husband Jorge of Fall River, MA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear lifelong friends.

Bob was raised and resided his entire life in Tiverton, RI and was a well-known and liked member of the community. He worked his whole life as a fisherman on different vessels and on shore catching any fish or shellfish he could find. Aside from being a lifelong fisherman, Bob also worked over the years for the State of RI, East Coast Construction, and C.A. Cabral Landscaping Supplies.

Bob’s passion was always fishing (especially with his grandchildren) however his true love was always his family. Spending time with them and watching them grow always brought him great pride and joy, just as it did for them. Besides spending time with family, he also enjoyed being with friends, his boat, joking and sharing stories, the occasional trip to the casino, and his dog Abby. Bob was also famous for his clam boils, firewood, green-thumb and the biggest tomato plants in Tiverton.

Out of respect for Bob’s final wishes, the family will not be holding services, but would like to thank all of his family, friends, and hospital staff that cared for Bob throughout this battle.

Billy, Pattie & family, I am so sorry for your loss. I happened to see Bob's obituary as I was checking my dads. He passed a few weeks ago, and my sister in May - both of cancer. Seeing Nancy when we went for treatments was comforting as our tiny corner of the world often is. I wish you peace.
