Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home - Lorain Obituary

Robert W. Toth, age 94, of Lorain went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 3, 2022.

Bob, or “Don” as he was known to his family, was a life-long resident of Lorain and a life-long member of the Lorain Hungarian Reformed Church.

Bob was born on May 28, 1928.  A childhood illness sidelined him for a year but did not crush his enthusiasm for life.  After graduating from Lorain High, he worked for US Steel in their Crane Department.  An interest in drafting led Bob to Adalet Manufacturing in Cleveland where he designed countless products for which he received recognition both inside and outside the company.  He retired from Adalet in 1993.

Bob loved tinkering around the house, gardening, and caring for the home in which he had grown.  He enjoyed Cleveland sports (adding colorful commentary throughout the game).  Bob was an avid fan of college basketball and the NCAA Tournament.  He loved telling stories to his grandchildren about working at Kriebel’s Farm, washing bottles for dairies in Lorain, and youthful indiscretions.  Bob surprised everyone by learning to cook and bake after his wife, Judy, died in 2011.

Surviving Bob is son, Douglas, of Dayton; daughter, Marsha (Alan) Mezenski, of Brunswick; daughter, Patty (Gary) Oshida, of Roanoke, Virginia; grandchildren, Thomas and Timothy Oshida, and Grace (Mike) Carretta.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Judith (nee Koller); parents, Aaron and Stella (nee Trelay) Toth; brother, Richard; and sisters, Olga Kulick and Stella Rakich.

The family will receive friends at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 E. 31st Street, South Lorain on Monday, July 11, 2022, from 4–6 p.m.  A prayer service will immediately follow.  There will be a graveside service for immediate family on Tuesday, July 12.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hungarian Reformed Church, 1691 E. 31st Street, Lorain, Ohio  44055
