ROBERT LEE "BOB" UTTERBACK

Robert Lee Utterback (Bob) went peacefully to his Lord and Savior on January 28, 2019 in Midland, Texas at the age of 87. Bob was born in East St. Louis, Illinois on December 20, 1931 to Corrine Alice and Charles Utterback. While very young, his mother remarried Lavere Holt Broom who raised Bob as his own. He grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, and traveled worldwide with his family as his dad was in the Air Force for 26 years. He graduated from General H. H. Arnold High School in Wiesbaden, Germany then enlisted in the Air Force, serving 4 years as an aerial photographer. His family settled in Riverside, California, where he met and married the love of his life, Jacqueline (Jackie) Watson on May, 30, 1957. They were married 55 years until her death in 2012.
Bob was a committed Christian, loved the church, studied the Bible and served as a Vestryman. He worked at Rohr Industries as an aircraft assembler for 38 years. He enjoyed playing basketball and coaching little league. He was a city league basketball referee and softball umpire for many years. Other interests included photography, gardening (especially roses), traveling across the country, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. In 2013, he moved to Midland, Texas to be closer to his daughter and her family and became a fixture in the bleachers at Midland Christian High School enthusiastically supporting the volleyball, basketball and track teams.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Corrine and Lavere Broom, his sister Kathy Irwin and her husband Phil. He is survived by his children Michael T. Utterback, Sandra Ashton and her husband Stan, grandsons Michael G. Utterback and Jacob Ashton, granddaughters Madison Ashton Richardson and her Husband Jacob, Morgan Ashton, and Megan Ashton, step granddaughter Jennifer Kersten and her husband Ryan, and great grandchildren Kevin and Caleb Kersten.
Funeral services will be held in Riverside, California at All Saint's Episcopal Church, 3847 Terracina Dr. on Sunday, March 10th at 3:00pm with a celebration dinner from 4-6pm. Bob will be inurned at Riverside National Cemetery on Monday, March 11th at 11am and placed in a niche with his wife. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to Christ Church Anglican in Midland, Midland Christian School, and Hospice of Midland.
