Robert A. Van Auken

I just came across this and my condolences, my grandparents lived behind the Van Aukens for all those years in norolmsted and as a child I always would find my grandpa sitting out back near the tree line where their properties met each sitting on their own side chatting away... my grandpa passed 10 years before but it brings a smile to reminisce

Please accept my deepest sympathies. I enjoyed stopping by the house to talk with Mr. Van Auken.

Dear Alice, it was a privilege to learn (after being friends for many years) that we shared the same maiden name, and what a joy for your father to link together what little Van Auken family history I knew and the vast knowledge he had. I am so grateful to learn the wealth of Van Auken family history that he so willingly shared. My condolences to you and your family.

My sympathy to Holly and the rest of the family. My mother, a longtime teacher in North Olmsted, had the deepest respect for Dr. Van. He was truly an inspirational man.

Steve, my deepest sympathy for your loss. He was a wonderful guiding mentor for the North Olmsted school system. I remember how patient he was when we would goof-off over at your house in Forest Ridge. All the best to you and your family. Take care.

I'm very sorry for your loss.
With retirement just around the corner, it's easy to go back to 1974 when Dr. Van hired me as a teacher in North Olmsted. He was a truly "a gentlemen and a scholar."

Dear Lois, Joyce notified us of Bob's passing. Earl and I send our deepest sympathy to you and your family. He was an inspiration to us, in fact both of you have been for your courage and cheerfulness.

My condolences to out to the family of Robert Van Auken. I first became aware of Robert and his wonderful family-tree research thru my sister Susan Van Auken Spence of N. Royalton, Ohio several years ago. I spent considerable amount of time on the Van Auken family tree web site and was able to reconstruct my own family's branch going back 400 years to their arrival in Port Jervis, NY.
