I met Bob in 1985 when he interviewed me for a position with the Options Center. Even though he was retired from the University, his teaching career had not ended. He taught me much about the criminal justice system, computers, budgeting for nonprofits, and Washtenaw county politics. His wise counsel helped me stand up to immense pressure and helped Options to become known as a model program for the rest of the state.

My thoughts are with his family. He loved you a great deal.

We knew Bob as a friend and neighbor in our condo association, Newport West. He was always friendly, good humored and fun to talk with. He was active in the Association and offered good ideas for improvements. We will miss his presence in our community and his beloved dog Tigger.

We send our sympathy to his family and friends about his loss.

I joined the Michigan socisl eork fsculty when Robert Vinter was associate dean. In the many years following, I worked with him and for him on many projects related to the school and its curriculum. I always found him to be one of the most intellectually stimulating persons I have ever known. He also ha served as a model to me in his strong commitments to social justice.
