I first met Bob in 1978 at the Environmental Protection Agency Lab. I was a new engineer and was advised to talk to Bob because he was an expert on an issue I was assigned to look into. Bob was indeed an expert and went out of his way to help me find the information I was seeking. And he set my career on a new trajectory by recruiting me from EPA's Certification Division to his and Karl Hellman's Emissions Control Technology Division, which was much more in-step with my interests.
