Robert (Bob) W. Wallace, 68, of Lillian, AL died on Monday June 26, 2013 following a battle with cancer that began in 2009, living well past the time given by his doctors.
Born on October 3, 1944 in Palestine, TX to the late Mary M. Mollard (who died this past May) and the late Jack Wallace. Bob graduated from Richland High School in 1962 and attended Arlington State College in Arlington, TX before joining the U.S. Army in 1966 as a senior. Bob saw combat in Viet Nam in 1967 and 1968, particularly during the TET offensive and along the Cambodian border. Upon his return, he returned to college at the now renamed University of Texas, Arlington and graduated in 1969 with a BBA. Shortly after graduation Bob joined the U.S. Customs Service and began a career that would eventually span 40 years. He began as a Sky Marshal for two years and then was promoted to the position of Special Agent and began his career as a criminal investigator in 1971 in Dallas, TX. In 1986 Bob was called on to help start a new training program in Brunswick, GA where the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (F.L.E.T.C.) was located and became the Asst. Director for Advanced Training. It was during this assignment that Bob met his wife, Anne, who worked in the Public Affairs Office for the F.L.E.T.C. In 1989, Bob and Anne moved to Spanish Fort, Alabama where he took the position of Asst. Special Agent in Charge at the Mobile office. He supervised agents in Mobile, Birmingham, Nashville and Dauphin Island. In December 1999 Bob retired from the Customs Service and he and Anne settled on Ono Island, AL, fulfilling Bob's life long dream of living on the water. Bob also became employed with various companies doing security backgrounds investigations for the military. His last job was as a yacht salesman for a local yacht broker. He also volunteered at his local paris. Bob and Anne enjoyed five summers camping across the western U.S. and Great Lakes states and saw much of the natural beauty of our great country. Bob enjoyed various activities like the movies, playing poker at the local poker room and just having long conversations with family and friends over a beer and a beautiful coastal sunset.

Not sure what to say?

Ann, Bob was a good friend and Agent. I still think of the times we shared when we shared a duplex down in Key West, Fla. and our times in the Mobile SAC office. He will be missed. Our prayers are with you.

Anne, we never met... but I knew Bob in Dallas... great guy, good investigator, very kind....we learned we had been in the very same unit in Vietnam, tho at different times, a mere matter of weeks apart...I am so sorry for your loss...

You are in our thoughts and prayers today. We are sorry we can't be there for you in this time of sorrow.

Bob was a great man. I had the honor of working with him while he was in Mobile. He was truly a fine gentleman! Take care. Sharon Murphy

Anne, I am so sorry for your loss. You and Bob both, have been courageous soldiers during the long cancer battle. I am sure that Bob was very much aware of your devotion and careful attendance to his needs. Both of you have fought the good fight. I pray that the Holy Spirit will comfort you and that the love and admiration of your friends will help you during your grief. Much love, Charlotte

Anne, we are thinking about you and Bob's family and the difficult times that are before you. Please know that our prayers are with you.

God Bless You,
Bill and Ann Boling
