Robert Alan "Bob" Wilson Sr.

Robert Alan "Bob" Wilson Sr., 83, died on Thursday, March 15, 2012, at his home in Keswick, where he felt blessed to live for many years.

He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on March 1, 1929. His parents, Samuel and Frances Wilson, preceded him in death. Bob was a lifelong learner, teacher and coach; his love for education was evident. After graduating from the University of Virginia, he taught in the public schools for many years.

Bob's love for the area caused him to settle in the Keswick community to raise his family.

In the mid '60s, Bob and his wife, Libby founded the Little Keswick School for special needs children. His life's work was a reflection of years of mentoring and teaching many students to reach their goals through perseverance and a positive attitude. Bob enjoyed giving of himself in order to benefit others; and he did so daily with both staff and students. He was also a sportsman and he shared this passion with many friends far and wide. He particularly enjoyed foxhunting, fishing, golf and University of Virginia athletic events, especially when family and friends joined him. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Kew Wilson; their three children, Beau, Mark and Susie; and nine beloved grandchildren, Frances, Katherine, Emily, Riley, Morgan, Will, Michael, Chris and Sam.

He is also survived by his brother, Samuel. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Grace Episcopal Church in Cismont.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made either to the Grace Episcopal Church Historical Preservation Fund, P.O. Box 43, Keswick, Virginia, 22947 or to The Little Keswick Foundation for Special Education, P.O. Box 722, Keswick, Virginia, 22947. Not sure what to say?

I am very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. My time with him at Keswick has shaped me into the person that I am today. Even though you don't hear from the many children you have crossed paths with, please know that you two have definately made a difference in many futures. He had a gift to change lives and had a great purpose on earth. You and your family will be in my prayers.

Love and prayers from all of us at Oakland School.
