Robert T. "Bob" Wilson of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday at home.  He was 85.


Bob worked at Dice Tire shop, Mallory's, Stevenson Tire and had his own business at two different times, most recently on 231 South.  He also helped farm with the Enlow family.  He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Berean class.  He liked hunting, fishing, being outdoors and watching westerns.  He loved his family and spending time with them.


Born Oct. 22, 1936 in Jamestown, he was the son of Clark Layne Wilson and Opal Wilson.  He graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1955.  He married Beverly Fyffe on Sept. 27, 1958.  They divorced and she passed away Sept. 12, 2019.  He was married for 12 years to Mary Delk Tarter and they divorced in 1979. He married Geraldine "Jeri" Majeski Shull on March 4, 1989.  She passed away May 14, 2021.


Surviving family includes: son, Shane Wilson of Crawfordsville; three granddaughters, Kisha (Chris) Deck, Candice (Scott) Thornburg, Mikaley (Brian) Cegielski; two step-daughters, Glenda (Ross) Winfrey, Dora (Jeff) Hardacker; step-son, Rodney (Melanie) Tarter; five great-grandchildren.  


He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Wilson, brothers, Clark Wilson, Tom Wilson and John Wilson and step-grandson, Travis Lawrence.


Visitation will be from Noon to 2 PM Monday, May 23 at Burkhart Funeral Home.  Services will begin at 2, led by Pastor Tom James.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery North.

I met Bob through his stepson Rodney. I rode in his Chevy pickup truck with an LT1 engine, which was surprisingly fast. He was a nice guy.

I am so sorry for the passing of a good friend. For many years I would call and say "Can Bob come out and play?" I am sorry I can't be there Monday. I have skin cancer surgery scheduled at that time in Lafayette. I will really miss Bob and hope he tells Sherry how I am doing when he gets up there. She always teased him asking if he would babysit!

I married into this family, and the first time I met Bob, I learned that he was not shy about saying what was on his mind. There was no guessing about where you stood with him. We instantly hit it off. I knew him for 40+ years, and even though we were not what I would call "close", we would see each other at family events and get-togethers, and he always took time to sit and talk with me.
