Roberta O’Brien Campbell, 80, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
Roberta was born to John and Eileen O'Brien in Bayonne, NJ on August 7, 1944, and she had five siblings growing up and they were very close. She adored her siblings with all of her heart Eileen (deceased) Kathy, Bill, Margaret and Carol were beloved to her and she was so proud of them. As a child she learned to ice skate which was very good at and was her favorite hobby while living in New Jersey. She also enjoyed summers with her parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins on Lake Hopatcong in New Jersey and cherished those memories on the lake! She was very close to all of her cousins, and she cherished until her last breath. When Roberta was 12 years old, the O'Brien family moved to Pensacola, FL where she would spend the rest of her life with the exception of living in Livorno, Italy for 2 years.
Roberta made many friends growing up in Pensacola, graduating from Catholic High School in 1962. She would learn that those friends in her class would become lifelong who she cherished!
Roberta became a mother of two children, supporting their ambitions and love of sports. She was so proud of them always telling others about her son Scott's football career. She worked ambitiously hard and had a successful career in the administrative-secretarial field. She was an excellent banker, secretary and customer service specialist while ending her career in retirement at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital.
Over the years, Roberta loved slalom water skiing, on Bayou Texar with friends, playing the position as "catcher" on her bank league softball team and serving with the Krewe of Aphrodite where she was a member for 10 years. Her passion for cooking delicious meals for her family and friends was enjoyed by everyone! She looked forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas just so she could cook for her family! She also cared for her parents in their later years and loved doing it. In retirement, she loved spending time with her neighbors where she has lived for many years as well as getting together with many of her Catholic High classmates for lunch on a monthly basis who she lovingly referred to as "the Divas!" She always looked so forward to seeing them! She was so very proud of her nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews, bragging about them all the time and loving them like her own! Roberta treasured the "loves of her life" who were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brooklynn (deceased), Christian, Hope, Mia and Nolan.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish for many years and loved the Lord. She lived life to the fullest and fought a courageous long fight for over 11 years with cancer. Her last day of life was happy spending it with her sister, Kathleen and brother-in-law, Mike who have taken her to many doctor's appointments and cared for her, her great-granddaughter Mia and her nephew's children Alex and Aiden who were making her so happy being around her. Her last visitor was her dear friend Kathleen Callahan Lousteau who has been with her caring for her every single day and Roberta loved her like a sister!
Roberta took her last breath at Vitas Hospice-Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital on Saturday, July 26, 2025, and went peacefully. She never gave up and fought to the very end. Her infectious personality, humor and her beautiful blue eyes "Irish Eyes" will be sorely missed by everyone!
