Not sure what to say?

Again, she was my "job buddy" when I taught fulltime at Drexel, in particular that one year. We ate out together at least once a week, either between our classes or when we were through for the day. We talked A LOT; I remember we talked about how, for our students, we showed WHY anything-to-the-zeroth-power is 1 (even though that was never part of any syllabus, and b/c many students who understand advanced math don't understand why x-to-the-0 = 1 (for x non-zero)). We talked about our...

My (very belated) condolences to Brian, Amy, and Adam. I taught at Drexel during the year, around 1997, that Roberta did also. I remember with much fondness our friendship while she was there with me. I remember our lunches at Han Wool, our conversations about math and teaching and family, and our Chinese dinner with Brian and Adam (and my son Devin, 13 at the time -- Brian was 15, I think). I've been researching women in math. (and writing limericks on the subject, for a math/poetry blog run...

When I entered Drexel for graduate studies, I was unsure in which branch of mathematics I would specialize. Roberta was my inspiration to go into probability and statistics and eventually get my Ph.D. in statistics from the University of Pennsylvania where she taught (albeit after my time there) after Drexel. She was an excellent instructor and had a good sense of humor; one time, our class followed a French class and written on the board in French was "It is the fastest train in the world."...

Dear Brian and family,
I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Roberta. What a sweet person she was! I know she meant the world to you by the way your face lit up each time you spoke of her. Her fond memories will keep her alive in your heart. Someone once compared death to an ocean voyage. Although we bid a sad farewell to those we love, there are those on the other side rejoicing "Here she comes!" May she rest in peace.

Dear Al,
We were saddened to hear of Bobbi's death. Please accept our condolences.

Please accept our deepest condolences on your tragic loss.

Our thoughts are with you.

Roberta and I first met as graduate students at Temple University. She was a brilliant mathematician who equalled, and often surpassed, other leaders in her field. At the same time she remained a down-to-earth person who brought that same dedication to her family and friends.

Roberta, for one last time please let me share with you a bit of that mathematical wordplay we exchanged as students, but now in sadness:

May your spirit have no constraints.
May it have no...
