Robin Karcher, 64, of Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania, died Friday, January 18, 2013, at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, New York. For over 40 years, Robin was a hairdresser in Montclair, working in shops on South Fullerton St. and Valley Road. She had a passion for dogs and was proud to have her Mandy shown at the Westminster Dog Show. Born in Newark, Robin was raised in West Caldwell and lived in Montclair, Lake Parsippany and Lake Owassa. She moved to Dingman's Ferry in 1990. The daughter of the late Robert and Mickey (nee Zarro) Oswald, Robin was also predeceased by her brother, Tracey Oswald, in 2011. She is survived by her husband, Phil; son Tim Oswald and girlfriend Dani Menzel of Morristown; sister Laurel and husband Michael Clark of Randolph, and their son Colin; niece Kirsten and husband Ben Larick of Dingmans Ferry, and their children Deven, Bekah, and Ayla; nephew Luke Oswald and wife Ana, of Dingmans Ferry; niece Anna and husband Greg Hitchmough, and new baby Tyler, of Oxford, England; three stepsons, Billy Karcher and wife, DeeDee, of Montclair, and their children Erin and Ben; Jimmy Karcher, and girlfriend Rusty of Nyack, and his children Christian and Gabe; and Danny Karcher and wife, Erica, of Pattenburg. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to USAS Foundation.org, the Australian Shepherd charity, or to Glucodogs.org, training alert dogs for children with diabetes.
