Robin Shawn Quinn

Robin Shawn Quinn, of Edna, Texas, went to be with the Lord, at his home on the family land where he grew up, on Sunday, May 7, 2023. He was 62 years old. He was born in Karnes City, Texas on July 17, 1960, to Troy Quinn and Sue Milby Quinn.

Robin was a proud father, loving son, and kind brother who will be deeply missed.

Robin was welcomed home by his two brothers, Troy Lynn, age 2, and Kerry, age 1. He attended his first rodeo at the age of 2 weeks old in Dilley, Tx.

His love for sports began at an early age beginning with Little League baseball. While in school he was active in sports and many organizations. He excelled as a natural athlete and also in his academics. Both came easy for him. He was a 1978 graduate of Edna High School and he also attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. An avid sports fan who loved watching sports on television. He was full of facts concerning current sporting events and all sports trivia.

He was a country boy at heart. His childhood years were spent with lots of time outside. Horseback riding, calf roping, campouts, playing army or cowboys and indians in the woods around his home, BBQs, hay hauling, and cousin fights with Bois D’Arc green apples when cousins visited, His life involved many escapades especially with his brothers and his friends. He loved to play dominoes. He learned to play dominoes from his great grandfather, Papa Emil Johns, who he loved very much. He always enjoyed himself. He had his brother’s backs and was always there for them if they needed him. His personality was much like his Daddy’s. He had a great sense of humor and would always say things to make us laugh.

Robin loved music. He liked to sing. Many times we would get a phone call asking us, “Hey remember this?” and he would proceed to sing us a song. Troy Lynn remembered him singing Elvis in the back of a pickup at the age of 6 or 7 years old. He also had lots of rhythm and could do it all.

He liked to cook, especially grilling then sharing with all of us. He also liked to eat out. Robin loved desserts and always bought something sweet at the grocery store. He would call for special requests with his famous words, “What’s the matter, you haven’t been cooking or what?” Some of his favorites were Chicken and dumplings from his sister, Charlotte and Chicken Spaghetti from his cousin, Rhonda Jane. He already had a request in for Rhonda Jane for Chicken Spaghetti on the day he passed on.

Robin had a kind heart. He was very caring and loving. His conversations always included checking on his nephews and nieces. He always wanted to know how they were and what they were doing. Then he would keep the rest of us informed. His visits from his brother Kerry and Kerry’s two grandsons, Whitton and Riley, to say hello, were the highlight of many of his days.

He enjoyed a good garage sale or estate sale. Many times he would buy things and then give them away to family. Just small items that will now forever be our treasurers.

Robin loved his pets. A three-legged dog named Victoria that slept under his bed and a cat named Dilly that slept in the bed beside him. He made many trips to town to help his mom feed cats.

He was baptized at a young age and a member of First Baptist Church of Edna, Tx. He loved Jesus.

He knew Jesus loved him. His sweet spirit affirmed it.

Robin loved his children and grandchildren very much. He would want them to know that. He would want them to always remember it. He was a proud daddy and grandpa.

Our family is extremely heartbroken. We will miss his phone calls beginning with “What’s up hound-dog?”. We miss you already. We know you are for sure. “Chillin like a Cadillac” safe in the arms of Jesus. And we will see you again. We love you Robin

Robin is survived by his mother, Sue Milby Quinn; son, Shawn Quinn; daughters, Amanda Edwards (Damian) and Janet Jones; sister, Charlotte Quinn Frenzel (Douglas); brothers, Troy Quinn (Victoria Schultz), Kerry Quinn (Sheila), and Eric Quinn (Jo Kathryn); and his grandchildren, Dawson Carter Jones, Kaydence Louise Jones, Jonah Ray Jones, Everly Honora Edwards, and Patrick Scott Edwards. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Troy Quinn; and his grandparents, G.A. Quinn, Elizabeth Johns, Michael Hunt Milby, and Virginia Ann (Dolly) Mascheck.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Hicks, Tyler Quinn, Jordan Quinn, Tuna Lindberg, Joel Frankel, and Jay Wardell.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Clinton Quinn.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Edna, Tx. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Culpepper-Wilkerson Cemetery in Edna. Pastor Robert Krause will be officiating.
