Roby Martin Lyons, 63, of Hatfield, KY, passed away Monday Sept. 29, 2025, at Waiteville, WV, while doing what he loved best, hunting and being outdoors. Roby was born November 14, 1961, at Man, WV, to the late Tom Lyons and Arlene June Carroll Lyons. Roby is also preceded in death by siblings, Richard Kyle Lyons, Tom Edward Lyons, and Donna Shockey. Roby was a coal miner.
Roby is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Lyons, his children, Derick (Emily) Lyons of Dandridge, TN, and Contessa Lyons Newsome. Roby is also survived by his siblings, Robert (Polly) Lyons, and Yvonne June Lyons, his grandchildren, Madison and Allyson Newsome of Dana, KY, his special family, Dave and Veleda Marcum, Jonathan Shenna Scott and their children, Jace and Eli and a host of loving family and friends.
The visitation will be held Friday October 3, 2025, and Saturday October 4, 2025, night at the Mary Elizabeth Old Regular Baptist Church at 7 PM with special services both nights at 7 PM. The funeral will be held at 11 AM Sunday October 5, 2025, at the Mary Elizabeth Old Regular Baptist Church with Ron Gannon and other Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. The burial will follow at Lowe Cemetery, Hatfield, KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, KY, is serving the Lyons family. My mom (Donna) loved her brother so much. She spoke of Roby and her love for him almost every day while she was on this earth. Now, they can be together in heaven. Love to the family. “Together again in Heaven, a brother and sister bound by love for eternity.”
