Thank you, Lewis, for your many kindnesses to my family over the years. You were such a vibrant person who will live on in the hearts of all who knew you.

Jon, You and Wes were so kind to my mother, father and myself when we first relocated to Davidson from California. And even up to a few of weeks ago, I passed by Wes, out walking the dog. He never complained about his obviously declining health, but instead, asked me how I was doing since my dad's death in February.
"Grief is the purest evidence that we have loved, and loved well." May you feel loved as you grieve this tremendous loss.

One of my blessings in life is the little church on the corner,Cornelius Presbyterian Church where Lewis and I both grew up. It was always a thrill for Lewis to come home for visits and an even bigger thrill when he and Jon came home for good. Many Sundays we were blessed with the gift of music thanks to Lewis' God given talents. I am saddened beyond words that our friend/brother is gone but happy he left footprints on our hearts and joy in our souls.

Years ago when Lewis was at Davidson studying organ, I was allowed to also take organ from Wilmer Welsh. I was only in high school, but Lewis always treated me with such kindness. Mr. Deaton and my father worked together at Burlington Mills; so we felt like we were already family from the first time we met. Such a kind and loving person God has taken home. Now the entire Deaton family will be together for eternity. Prayers and Blessings to his friends and family.

Jon...I am Laura Craven's, daughter, Harriet. I'm so sad to learn of Lewis' death...saddened and shocked...he left WAY TOO EARLY! I've spent the afternoon thinking of his wonderful parents and my association with them...You and Lewis were so wonderful to Aunt'Genia! I still have the wonderful article written about you two in the Charlotte Observer...such devotion! I'll be thinking of you, Jon, as you begin your live without your beloved Lewis...

Lewis, my brother. I am honored to have known you. On the greatest days of celebration, You were there. You played and I cried tears of Joy and Pride. You always made Amy and I feel special. Like our Wedding or the Baptism of Blythe were going to be the next greatest events on earth, and they were, because of you. We are kindred spirits. I miss our insane discussions, filled with ludicrous ideas and scenarios. Talking like rascals, masterfully planning our steely disruptions, knowing we were...
