I wish to express my deepest heartfelt sympathy about the tragic loss of Rod. He was not only gifted as an athlete but more importantly as a human being. I didn`t know Rod that well but I still wanted to say how saddened I felt when I learned that he was suddenly not with us anymore.

It is so very sad to learn of Rod's passing. I have been blessed with so many wonderful memories from my home town. Some of the best were sharing athletic moments with Rod either as a spectator or co-participant. He was a truly gifted athlete who strived to be the best he could be. He also brought that intensity to his working life and his personal interactions. His heart was always in the right place and he was a true friend.
My condolences to Rod's family and those closest to...
