I am deeply saddened to hear of Rodell's passing. I knew her through my employer. I very much looked forward to talking with her!!! Rest in peace dear and thank you for showing me so much kindness.

Several decades ago, our fellow aviator friend Jim Schaeffer in a happenstance meeting at Field’s restaurant, struck up a conversation, and befriended Rodell. They were both the outgoing friendly types, so it was not a surprise that conversation led to Jim’s request for her to store his box fan, used to keep us cool in the UW dorm rooms, at her employer’s law firm’s office until he returned for next year’s Oshkosh airshow. I was shocked and saddened with the news of Rodell's untimely passing. Rodell hosted me and my fellow aviators for many years during our annual pilgrimage to the annual EAA event in Oshkosh. She was the consummate host and beyond that treated us like a member of her own family! She was always happy, smiling and in a good mood and always thoughtful enough to ask about our own families from year to year as soon as we saw her. Rodell was a great sister-in-law, wonderful person and kind friend. She remembered important events and sent the most meaningful and beautiful cards. I had been the youngest of the family, but gladly gave up that role when Rodell married my brother Andrew. She brought a spark of life to her marriage and family, and as a mother, she poured love and joy into the lives of all her children.
