Not sure what to say?

Mr. McTaggart was the teacher who had a profound impact on my education and left lasting good memories of elementary school.

As a student at West Langley Elementary, I was fortunate to be in his class during some of my most formative years. He captivated us with tales of his travels, especially his travels in to Egypt. I still cherish a necklace he brought back from Egypt as a thank you for caring for the class pet rats, Silky and Satin, over the summer. He inspired us to be good...

Impossible “coincidence” that me and Greg Christofferson, my good friend and classmate in grades 6 and 7, came across Mr. McTaggart’s obituary on the SAME Day, 46 years since we were in Rod McTaggart’s class!!!! Mr. McTaggart is STILL bringing his many classes together from the other side!

I am surviving stage IV cancer at the moment and one healing exercise is to reach out to your favourite teacher and thank them for the influence they had on your life. Mr. McTaggart is that...

I would like to follow up on Eduardo’s post.
I had not heard of Mr. McTaggart’s passing until now. I am 57 now and would still refer to him as Mr. McTaggart, as I had so much respect for him. I was a pupil at West Langley elementary under his tutelage in grade six and seven.
My special memories of him are the after lunch readings he would lead and the time he came to our farm to milk a cow. He was a genuine role model. I am saddened that I cannot see him now to tell him what a...

Rod McTaggart was my Grade 7 teacher at Simonds Elemetary in Langley BC. I remember him as a wonderful teacher. Tall, stern, fair and most of all, friendly. I recall him playing the bagpipes for us in class, and putting jellybeans on our desks for us after we came back from recess. He taught us about Robbie Burns Day, Haggis, and how to treat each other with respect and fairness. I found this obituary on a google search today, because I wanted to look him up and see if he was still...

RM is Not forgotten.

Catherine, Colin, Sam, Doug and all of the McTaggarts:
It is only sinking in now. We know what Rod would have to say about all of this, so whenever I look at his picture near my desk I swallow and try to deliver an inspiring lesson to my grade 12s who are studying "The Tempest." If I can make the kids smile or laugh before the end of class, I know Rod would approve.
We were all so lucky to have known Rod. If the angels are lucky, they will have a great sense of humour! If...

Dear Catherine,
I was so very sad to hear of Rod's passing. Lindsay and I send our deepest sympathy to you and your family. I have such wonderful fond memories of our grand friendship so many years ago. If there is anything that I can do to help you through the tough times ahead please call me anytime.
Always, Ruth

I've just learned of Rod's passing through a colleague who first met him at Seaforth the same time I did. I was fortunate enough to work as an educational assistant in Rod's Grade 6 classroom. He was a most generous man.
I would regularly regale my friends and family with stories of his antics in class, and out!
My favourite memory is making the class movie " The Mommy ". Rod would move heaven and earth for the kids in his class, and I'm glad I asked Rod for a copy of the video, because...

Mr. McTaggart was a wonderful teacher. Some of my best memories from Seaforth are of being in his class. He really loved teaching and made gr.7 fun for so many of us. He gave the best public speaking tips (esp. for In Flanders Fields), the best foot stompin' square dancing lessons, and the best movie direction. He will be greatly missed.
