Mr. Rodney F. Brown, age 84, of Auburn, NH, formerly of Lynn, pass away suddenly on Friday, July 15, 2011 . He was the beloved husband of the late Wilma T. (Grant) Brown. Born and raised in Pittsfield, he was the son of the late Lester P. Brown, Sr. and the late Mary (VanValkenburg) Brown. He was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, Bryant College, and Northeastern University. Mr. Brown served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked as an accountant for General Electric in Pittsfield, Wilmington and Lynn. He also worked for the American Brush Company as well as the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Mr. Brown was a former Chairman of Trustees at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lynn. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lodge, AF & AM in Lynn as well as the Pittsfield Lodge AF & AM. He was a Sunday school teacher at St. Paul’s Church in Lynn, as well as in Pittsfield. He was also a basketball coach in Lynn, a former Auxiliary Police Officer in Lynn, and a former instructor on Effective Presentation at General Electric. An avid bowler and fisherman, he loved camping on the lakes of New Hampshire. He is survived by 4 children; Ann-Louise Jones and her husband Raymond of Marshfield, MA, R David Brown and his wife Maureen of Sutton, MA, Jacqueline L. Sylvia of Auburn, NH and Stephanie M. Doherty and her husband Ed of Auburn, NH; as well as 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Lester P. Brown, Jr, who was killed in WWII. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 11:30AM in the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN AND RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 5-8PM.
