Not sure what to say?

This is very sad news. I haven't seen Rodney for several years but he had recently been in my thoughts. We met in a political campaign in the early '70's when Dick Nichols ran for Austin City Council after having previously been defeated for voting in favor of a fair housing ordinance. Our campaign was successful by the way thanks to the hard work of public school teachers and other concerned citizens. We would run into each other now and then over the years and it was always a pleasant...

Mr. Brown was my Social Studies teacher. He taught with passion and a sense of humor. RIP Sir. Class of '79

My condolences to the family. Mr. Brown was my teacher at Johnston and was one of the best teachers I ever had.

I was fortunate to have Mr. Brown and can say without hesitancy that he was a man devoted to his craft. He had the most wonderful spirit, the kindest heart, and an infectious smile. He was one of the reasons I went into education. I am so profoundly grateful for his life and legacy. Jessica Crout Russo A.S. Johnston, class of `89

Sorry for your loss

Rodney Brown was always dedicated to making the world a better place. His work with the teacher's union made his name recognizable, but it was his genuine smile and kindness that will stick with me. My late husband really admired Rodney and I guess it was a mutual admiration society because Rodney went out of his way to tell me how much he appreciated Dan. Rodney will be missed. Austin is a poorer place without him in it.
