Rodney Alan Cryer, age 53, of Amarillo, Texas formerly of Electra, Texas passed away July 22, 2022 at his residence.


Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Electra with Kevin Oakley, Pastor of Mescalero Baptist Church of Amarillo, officiating.  Interment will follow in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.


Rodney was born April 19, 1969 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Gerald Don Cryer and Barbara Kelley Cryer.


In 1987, he graduated from Electra High School and then proudly served his country in the United States Navy during Desert Storm.  After his tour of duty, he moved to Amarillo in 1991.


He married Monica Fannin on March 15, 1997 in Las Vegas, Nevada.


Rodney was employed for Iowa Beef Packers, then Thomas E. Creek Medical Center and finally Amarillo Helium Plant where he was a supervisor.  Rodney enjoyed working with his hands in his shop, fixing things and helping his friends.  He also loved Nascar Racing and camping.  He was recently very proud to become a granddad.  Rodney was a member of Mescalero Baptist Church in Amarillo.


Survivors include his wife, Monica Cryer of Amarillo, two sons, Travis Wayne Fannin and wife, Tana of Niles, Michigan and Reese Alan Cryer of Amarillo; mother, Barbara Cryer of Electra; brother, Darryl Don Cryer of Electra; grandson, Atlas Zayne Fannin of Niles, Michigan; niece, Kayla Don Cryer and great-nephew, Carter of Wichita Falls.


Serving as pallbearers will be Rodney Bell, Kevin Detmer, Taylor Forrester, Tony J. Moore, Johnny Taylor and Shawn White.


He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Don Cryer on October 5, 2015.

Rodney, I never met you, but I know you had to be an amazing person to have had Monica in your life. I'm sorry you had to leave this world and your family and friends, but I know you will live on forever in the hearts and minds of your loved ones.

I am so sorry to hear about Rodney’s passing. There are no words. He was always easy to talk to and always spoke his mind - that is one of the things I liked about him mostly. Prayers for the family. Rest In Peace Rodney.
