Rodney Pertile

PERTILE - Rodney K. Pertile, age 81, formerly of Sheridan, WY and Ironwood, MI, died Monday, November 15, 2010 after one week in the hospital. Born in Ironwood, MI to Pete and Pearl Pertile, Rodney graduated from Luther Wright High School in 1947 and from Michigan Technological University in 1952 with a B.S. degree in Mining Engineering. He worked for several mining companies in iron ore, uranium, phosphate and coal, and retired from Shell Mining Co. in 1993. He married Violet Holappa in Hancock, MI in 1952. Rodney is survived by his wife, Violet; daughter, Victoria and her husband Tom; son, Michael Pertile and family; brother, Peter Pertile and wife Alice; sister, Faye Pertile; and grandchildren, Mathew Mason, Sara Shafor and husband Justin, and Hannah Mason. They retired to Sheridan, WY where they resided for 17 years and recently moved to Rio Rancho, NM. He loved fishing, hunting, and football until three years ago when poor health stopped all activity except therapy. No public services will be held.
