It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rodolfo G. Reyes, who left us peacefully March 16, 2025, at the age of 88. He was surrounded by his loving family in his hometown of Las Cruces NM. Rodolfo was born July 3,1936, to Manuel Z. and Erminda G. Reyes.
A loving husband, father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Uncle. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary, his sisters Carmen and Ofelia, his children Christina (Richard), Cecilia, Rudy Jr (Carmen), Michael, Julie, and Carol. His Grandchildren Mark, Angela (Derrick), Samantha (Ruben), Joseph, Mike, Mandy, Robert, Lourdes, Antonio, Jada, Elias, Hannah. His Great Grandchildren Ashley, Andrea, Makayla, Kyrah, Arianna, Pitrie, Zoe, Noah, Sophia, and Maeva. And God Children, and Many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Vestina, his siblings Ceci Torres, Sixto Reyes, Leonor Montoya, Irene Silva, and Vicki Alvarado.
Rodolfo began his career at the age of 17 when enlisted in the ARMY, after basic training he attended Jump School and became a Paratrooper, he then attended Special Forces School and it was not long before he became a Jumpmaster after that he served in the ARMY Reserve Green Beret Special Forces. He then continued his career in the civilian world working at Sara Lee Hosiery as a Shipping Department Manager.
He spent his free time with his family on camping trips, summer vacations at Disneyland, Las Vegas, Colorado, and taking his sons hunting. His hobbies he enjoyed spending time in his shop welding making fascinating projects while listening to his Spanish music. Along with many more lifetime achievements. He was known for his kind heart, bigger than life personality, and unwavering support for those he loved.
A prayer vigil will be held on Wednesday March 26, 2025 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road. Visitations will begin at 05:00 P.M. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 06:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M on Thursday March 27, 2025 at The Basilica of San Albino, 2280 Calle Principal. Interment and Rite of Committal will conclude at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 100 N. Espina Street.
Serving as casket bearers include Joseph Reyes, Elias Ybarra, Antonio Reyes, Raymundo Torres, Edward Alvarado and Ruben Del Valle.
Rudy’s legacy of kindness and wisdom will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him.
