Not sure what to say?

My sincerest condolences to the Mortel family. Dr Mortel was a beacon for me. He supported me in my professional career as a Gynecologic oncologist and paved the way for me to build and broaden my career with research. He helped build the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation / National Cancer Institute Research Fellowship. It was my honor to be their first fellow and it changed my professional path, chartering it in a way that I was able to expand the footprint of gynecology and add this presence to...

Dear Cecilia and the rest of the Mortel family. I was so sorry to hear of Deacon Rod's passing. I fondly remember being witness to his formation as a deacon here in Baltimore. The trip to dedicate Le Bons Samaritans in 2001 was inspirational and celebration beyond compare. My prayers are with you. Dear Cecilia my thoughts and Prayers are with you and the family during this time of loss. I worked with Dr. Mortel in the operating room as the Head Nurse of OB,GYN for 5 years. He was so wonderful to work with such a great teacher for the residents as well as the nursing staff. he was truly a humble man whose heart was with his patients not only at Hershey but also with the people in Hati which he did so much back to his home country for many years not only in surgery but with the hospital...

Cecilia, I will always remember you and Rod visting Beth when she was very ill. Your prayers were heartfelt and meaningful. Beth always looked to Rod for his guidance and leadership for over 30 years coordinating St. Joan of Arc's Consolation and Bereavement Ministry. I will always remember Rod for his pleasant smile, kindness and willingness to help everyone.

Blessings and Love, to Mrs. Mortel and family during this difficult time. Dr. Mortel was amazing! and I had the pleasure to work with him, as the GYN Oncology Nurse for 3 1/2 years (1977-1980+) and witness how he served our patient's, staff and families at HMC. He was an amazing surgeon, mentor to many, and saved lives. His dedication and service to Hati and his schools, and the Hershey community was so inspiring, at the same time, never forgetting how people helped him, come from humble...

My heart is saddened by the loss of such a great man. Not only was he a great leader, mentor, physician and statesman - he was a man of great faith, passion and hope. His smile and laugh were contagious. He cared about those around him and the stories he´d share of his humble beginnings made anything seem possible. The stars in heaven are shining a little brighter tonight. Thank you for being such an inspiration to those privileged to know and work with you. To Cecilia, and his entire...
