HENDERSONVILLE-Roe John Deal, 93, of Hendersonville, NC and Marion, SC passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015.
Born in Hiddenite, NC of John Deal and Evelyn Scroggs Deal. He was reared in Brasstown, NC.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lucile Rose Deal and three children, Rosemary Deal Lisby (Greg), David Robert Deal, Martha Jane Deal McLeod (Frank), and a son who predeceased him, Kenneth McKoy Deal. Four grandchildren, Melissa Lisby Matheny (Paul) of Johnstown, CO; Amanda Lisby Gray (Shayne) of Roswell, GA; Blair McLeod McCauley (Joe) of Elon, NC; Laurie Anne McLeod (Tyler) of Raleigh, NC; two great-granddaughters, Madison Rose Anderson and Alayna Jo Matheny of Johnstown, CO. three siblings, William Gray Deal of Charlotte, NC; Pauline Deal Gammon of Forest City, NC; Edith Deal Johnson (Hal) of Chelsea, OK; Lillie Deal Emory of Asheville, NC; and predeceased by a sister, Pansie Deal.
Mr. Deal graduated from Hayesville High School in 1939 and was the recipient of a 4-year scholarship to NC State University as the 4-H Club Member of the year for the state of North Carolina. He graduated from NC State University with a degree in Poultry Science. Mr. Deal served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for three years as a fighter pilot. In 1943, he met his wife on a blind date to church at Winthrop College, Rock Hill, SC. He worked for Helms Poultry Farm as a poultry geneticist. And in 1950 he did graduate work at the University of Maryland. Mr. Deal and his family moved to Marion, SC where he worked for the Soil Conservation Service and with his father-in-law at Rose's Evergreen Farm.
A memorial service will be held at a later time in Marion, SC. Donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church, Marion, SC.

I can't begin to tell you how very sorry I am to hear of Roe's passing. It is with tears that I am writing this. I loved him so so much. He was like a father to me as well! I have many memories of him and being a part of the Deal family. These are memories I hold very close to me heart! To each of you-Lucille, Rosemary, David and Martha Jane know that I love you all and my prayers are for you to draw comfort knowing that he touched so many lives in a profound way and hopefully made us all...

The Deal family I am so sorry to hear of Mr Deals passing, I just heard about this from Mrs. Vann next door he was a unique man & friend my prayers are with the family,what we loose on earth is heavens gain.
