Rogelio "Roy" Garza Jr., born April 30, 1957, peacefully entered into the arms of his Savior on December 26, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle, Roy leaves behind a legacy of compassion, service, and joy that will forever bless those who knew him.
He is survived by his faithful mother, Emma Garza; his cherished daughters, Natalie Rebecca Garza and Emily Lauren Garza; his beloved grandson, Romeo Garza; and his sisters, Rebecca Montgomery (Gary Montgomery), Chriselda Munoz (Ronnie Munoz), Christina Diaz (Eddie Diaz); and mother of his children, Herminia Saldivar. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Roy is reunited in Heaven with his father, Rogelio Garza Sr., and his sister, MaryAnn Rodehaver, whom he missed dearly.
Roy dedicated 45 years of his life as a paramedic, answering the call to serve and save lives with unwavering devotion. His hands brought healing to the injured, his courage brought comfort to the suffering, and his steadfast commitment to his vocation inspired all who worked alongside him. Roy saved countless lives, offering not only his medical expertise but also his profound care and empathy. He was admired and respected by his colleagues, who often looked to him as a mentor and leader in their shared mission to heal and protect others.
Outside of his work, Roy radiated vibrant energy and an insatiable zest for life. He was the life of every family barbecue, the first to take the dance floor when a good tejano song came on, and a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys, cheering for them with unshakable faith every season.
Yet, his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was being the father of Natalie and Emily. To them, he was not just a parent but a role model and the embodiment of unconditional love. They will carry his legacy of kindness, strength, and love forward, just as he would have wanted.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the many physicians and Yellow Rose Hospice for their expert care, guidance, and unwavering dedication in attending to Roy throughout his journey. Your efforts made a lasting difference during a challenging time.
His family and friends take comfort in the assurance of his eternal rest in Heaven, where there is no more suffering, only peace and joy in the presence of the Lord.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." (Matthew 25:23) Rest in peace, Roy. Your love, laughter, and light will never be forgotten.
