Dr. Anderson was a wonderful teacher. I have retained more from what I learned in his class than many others, and still have a keen interest in all things geological. Thank you.

Dr. Anderson was a wonderful professor, an outstanding researcher and an exemplary community leader. I was among the thousands of students who experienced the magic that this gifted professor brought to geology classrooms during his 45 years of teaching at UNM. Dr. Anderson received many awards for teaching and research excellence during his distinguished career. The strong, positive impact that he had on his students and our community will be long remembered. He will be missed.

Dr. Roger Anderson was my first Geology professor at UNM, my first semester as an older student and mother of two. I took Geology 101 to fulfill a requirement for a Science credit because I thought it would be an easy credit. It was easy only because Dr. Anderson was such an incredible teacher! Half way through that first semester, I changed my major to Geology with a minor in Native American studies!

With sadness and reverence, I read this morning of Roger's passing.

A kind, generous, and principled soul, and an astute and focused academician, Roger left a lasting impact on the world and on me personally.
