Roger was a colleague at the university of Illinois at Chicago for 30 years. I shall never forget his civil demeanor and empathy for anyone who engaged his attention. His skill as a teacher was legendary at the UIC. Frankly, I was envious of his ability to light up a student's eyes with a few well chosen words---usually a question.
He taught more than students.
