Roger Clement Hoover, a lifelong resident of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014, in Birmingham, in the presence of his family. He was born September 12, 1947, to Joe and Avorine Hoover. He is survived by his three daughters, Leah Hoover of Owensboro, Kentucky, Allison Hoover Culwell of Birmingham married to Mike Culwell, and Courtney Andrews of Frisco, Texas married to Will Andrews; three sisters, Cindy Tapscott and Amy Frank of Decatur and Sara Hoover of Birmingham; seven granddaughters; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A private graveside service was held for the family on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Alzheimer's Family Program, 1720 2nd Avenue South, CH19, 201 Birmingham, AL 35294-2041. Please designate donations to "Dementia Research."

We were sorry to hear of Roger's passing. He was always a friendly person and ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. He bought meals for people who couldn't afford them and always gave money to people on the street down on their luck. Prayers for you all during this time of loss.
